Anna Carlisle-Haynes has a background in Classical Ballet, is a graduate in a Modern Dance from The Laban Art of Movement Centre and holds an MA in Language, The Arts and education from Sussex University.

She currently teaches at Lewes College working with Physical Theatre Techniques, GCSE, A/S and A Level Dance. In addition, Anna is Tutor Consultant for Dance at the University of Sussex.

Freelance Work
Director of the Youth Dance Company 'Firts Edition' formed for a Brighton Festival choregraphic commission in 1992. Members of the company are now in professional trinig at LCDT, Laban Centre, etc. . The company worked at the SNDO, Amsterdam in 1993 with Greg Nash to create a new piece for repertory and plan to apply for funding for a Laurie Booth commission. They have performed in a wide variety of venues in the South East including the Gadner Centre Brighton, Christ Hospital, horsham and the Royal Festival Hall - 'Ballrom Blitz'. They were invited to School (Faculty included Flemimg and Vivi Flindt) teaching rep. work and presenting an evening's performance. The latest performance work, "Snow on Water" has been entered for a national youth company competition.

Chair of th Laban Guild and co-director of this organisation's dance panel running an internationally successful Community Dance Teachers Trainnig Scheme. Stage II of this scheme will be piloted by the suffolk Dance Agency, April 1994.

Tutor-consultant for Dance on the MA degree 'Language, the Atrs and Education', University of Sussex. Annual choregraphic masterclasses are a feature of this consultancy.

Member of SE Arts Working Party researching Youth Dance in the county.

Member of the Brighton Dance Agency working to the up a National Choregraphic Centre. Their recent choregraphic project,'Sussex Steps' is designed to encourage work by local young choregraphers to be premiered at the Gardner Center Theatre, Sping 1994.

European and Scandinavian Comissions
She has conducted and taught on workshops and summer schools in Holland, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Northern and Southern Ireland, Denmark, Norway and Iceland. Anna directed a four-week choregraphic residency, summer 1993, at Danshuis, Copenhagen, for young choregraphers. This pilot project has now developed into an annual event with a commission for Autumn 1995 to work on a longer choregraphic project.

Berenice : A new opera in collaboration with composer, Ric Graebner and visual artist Larry Wakefield at the Turner Sims Theatre, Southampton University 1993. Plans to take this work to France and the Edinburgh Festival are under discussion.
